Our Framework
Adopted by Bill Hettler's Theory of Triadic Influence Ecological systems
Our wellness program integrates Bill Hettler’s Theory of Triadic Ecological Influence by supporting students' personal, social, and environmental well-being. We provide access to educators, culturally attuned fitness, and wellness workshops that nurture personal growth. Socially, we create a sense of belonging by ensuring students feel seen and supported. Environmentally, we address systemic barriers by connecting students to healthcare, business resources, and advocacy opportunities. Through this approach, we empower students to build resilience, knowledge, and community connections that support their overall well-being.

Wellness isn’t one-size-fits-all—it’s deeply rooted in culture, history, and lived experience. For too long, mainstream wellness has overlooked the traditions, rituals, and healing practices of Black and Brown communities, but we know that true well-being is about honoring where we come from while creating space to heal and thrive. Whether it’s through ancestral herbal remedies, movement practices like bomba or folklórico, or simply gathering over coffee or La Abuelita to share stories, wellness is about connection—to ourselves, our people, and the generations before and after us. At Brown Sugar N’ Coffee, we make space for culturally relevant healing that acknowledges systemic barriers, empowers communities, and centers our voices—because wellness isn’t just about self-care, it’s about collective care.
